The "Cinderman" Doll ~YHB~ |
This concept of the "Cinderman" was taken from a short story from Castles of Spirits... retold by *RevHellcat*
Back in the summer of 1996, I went to stay with my cousin Jeff and his sister Wanda in their great big two story house just outside of the foothills in Colorado.
It was a very hot summer and we would spend most of our time at a nearby creek which babbled its' refreshing cool water for miles.
Well one day as we were playing and the sun began to come down, Wanda came out of the water holding an old lunch pale she had just found. This was a bit odd, as Jeff mentioned the metal lunch box had some writing or symbols on it that we could not make out.
We tryed to open it but it was sealed shut almost as if welded. We all decided to call it a day and headed back to the house, (with the old lunchbox).
When we got inside the sweet smell of baked ham and mashed potatoes filled the air, we were quite hungry from our expedition from the creek. So we washed up and Wanda put the lunch pale in the study room. We sat down to a delicious home cooked dinner and talked about our camping trip we planned for the next week.
After we helped clear the dishes we decided to show the lunchbox to their dad in hopes he could get it open.
We returned to the study only to find that the pale was now open and inside was a 12"inch doll with a mishapened head and the eye sockets missing! but much worse is it was wrapped in an old linen with dried blood splattered about it (the stentch was revolting). At the top inside of the box read "Cinderman".
Wanda began to cry and left the room. We followed after her to see if she was okay, and that is when she told us of the "Cinderman".
She began by telling us that before grandma died she used to warn her of the Cinderman coming to get bad childeren who lied to their parents, and did not obey them. Wanda swore she remembered the name clearly.
No one else in the family had ever heard our grandma tell of such a story, infact when grandma was alive she only had stories of charm and wonder.
After calming her down we made our way back to the lunchbox......THE DOLL ITSELF WAS GONE!!!... only the tattered box remained. We looked every where for it as her mom held Wanda in the kitchen.
Next I heard the panic sounds of Jeff as he screamed out what he had found.... there in front of the basement door was the bloody linen!... The door would not open, yet you could see the light from under the door as it went on then off.
The doll was never found, and since that night if someone goes into the basement past dark no elecrticity will work down there, lighting a candle or a match will just blow right out (although there are no windows) even in daylight you can see your breath and smell that smell....of the "Cinderman Doll"
