Scarey, but Funny Things Kids See. Did You Ever See Anything?

I dont let my kids go outside unless they ask me first, of course, but sometimes one of them, like my oldest son, sneak outside anyway and I get really mad at him. But this morning maybe he learned his lesson. Atleast for a little while he will be too scared to go outside without telling me and especially when it's dark like it still was early this morning.

Well he went outside to "get something", as he said he was doing, and took his new little flashlight with him. I was making breakfast and didn't hear him sneak out the back door. But I heard someone try to turn the locked front door knob then knock frantically. I didn't know who it was so I went to open it and it was my son. He was scared and shaking and told me that he saw a tree that was alive. It bent down to pick something up then lifted it over it's head then turned and looked over at him! I thought this sounded so funny.

I remember seeing things when I was a kid that scared me for awhile. At my grandparent's house I thought a stack of clothes down at the end of the hall way looked like the witch like on The Wizard of Oz. I wouldn't go down the hallway almost alday! I also have a post about a little man that I used to see dancing on my dresser. And a friend of mine used to see a little ugly troll type thing come out of a vent in the wall every night.

So, do you remember seeing any scarey, but funny things when you were a kid? Shadows or furniture in the dark and such that looked like something else at the time? Because I would see alot of things like that when I was little. But I think it was just because I had such a good imagination.

Snow white Queen 1/30/2006 1:36:00 PM I swear when I was younger, I saw one of my stuffed toys move...Ever since I have not been able to sleep with that stuffed toy in my room. It's locked away in my cupboard somewhere. Thinking back, it was probably all just in my mind, but I still find it creepy lol.
Souldrifter 1/30/2006 1:45:00 PM When I was 5 years old I was terrified of the dark. My parents didn't have any tolerance of my fear so I had to just deal with it. I would stare at the dark shadows of my room...especially where the walls met the ceiling and I would SWARE there was an elephant on top of our house making the ceiling come down lower and lower on me. I remember one particular horrifying time that I looked down on my floor and thought I saw a big black snake....also a HUGE fear of mine. I screamed my fool head off until my mother came in and showed me it was just one of my fathers old ties that I had been playing with. I wish all snakes were just one of my fathers old ties. LOL....great post.
Starlight Drifter 1/30/2006 1:52:00 PM Thank you both Metal Princess and SoulDrifter. Very funny stories. I enjoyed them.
So Sweet Sofia 1/30/2006 6:52:00 PM One time when I was little, my mom had just put me to bed and I was lying in my bed looking around my room. I was staring at my shelf and my books were out of line. I thought that in the dark the books looked a man's face It didn't scare me. It just looked a little weird.
NOLATROZAR 1/30/2006 9:09:00 PM Yeah I saw shadows and stuff.....these sound more like hallucinations.
6Ball 1/31/2006 5:32:00 AM That incident with the tree was interesting. Steven Speilberg said he was scared of a tree in his yard as a kid...that's why "Poltergeist" has that tree in it! I was sleeping at my aunt's house & her bedroom door was cracked open. I kept thinking the door was opening wider and I was too scared to close it. Couldn't sleep for a long time! And let's not talk about things under the bed. I was petrified as a child that something under the bed was going to get me so I was careful not to let my legs go over the side while sleeping. Yes kids have a truly active imagination! -Wood Elf
firedevil 5/12/2006 8:08:00 PM lol, I was never scared of things under my bed. It's a trademark, now, isn't it? there was never the fear of something under the bed as much as there was with scary stories! Wow, I still remember them all!! *shivers* lol. :) ~Aquangel9
Cloudfire 6/4/2006 9:56:00 PM I had an "under the bed monster" when I was younger I remember always jumping off my bed or doing the sort of running jump on my bed out of fear something would grab my ankle. Hmmmm as far as seeing something... I thought there was a giant spider in the corner of my room once I was so scared I couldn't move I evetually fell asleep I think it was a pile of clothes or something don't remember.
