SOME GHOSTS OF CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY, CAMBRIDGE, ENGLAND |
A Roman centurion has been seen at several locations on the Girton College Campus, and Peterhouse College can be considered as offically haunted. The senior bursar, Andrew Murison, two butlers, and several students have seen the figure of Francis Dawes, a former student who attended the college in the nineteenth century. In 1998, the college dean, Reverend Graham Ward, admitted there was a ghost at Peterhouse and said he was investigating the possibility of having the presence exorcised.
At Sydney Sussex College, two seperate apparitions have appeared in the south wing of Chapel Court. In 1967, two students witnessed a "floating-plae-yellow head" and in the room diretly over their room, another student observed a "large blue and purple eye" manifest in a corner.
Seven years earlier, the head of Oliver Cromwell was interred in the college, and it has been suggested that that in the source of the haunting. The rest of Cromwell's body haunts Ghost Hill at Murrow in Cambridgeshire. International Directory of Haunted Places, p.17. |

Yikes! His head haunts one place, and his body another? I can just imagine seeing a blue and puple eye appearing in the corner after pulling an all nighter! Scary! Be Good... |

Wish I had seen something of the supernatural variety when I was roaming about the main part of the university. |
