Did my 2-year old cousin see someone I couldn't?

Hello all,

My cousin D has has many paranormal experiences both good and bad which I will post about at another time. This one has to do with her father-in-law that passed away a year ago on Valentine's Day.

After he passed both her and her husband
This particular event happened the week before Valentine's Day while I was watching both their children. One is 6 and was watching a video while I was preparing their dinner and the other is 2. The 2-year old, Gavin, was standing at the gate in the kitchen and kept throwing things at me to get my attention / for me to play with him. Suddenly he stopped for a moment and just looked in my general direction before starting to repeat what sounded like "bobby" or "bubby". The thing is, he has long since been weened off his bottle which he never called "bubby" to begin with.

Confused, I walked over to talk with him to see if I could figure out what he wanted. He just kept saying "bobby" or "bubby" over and over again and seemed to be looking past my shoulder while he was saying this. Thinking maybe he wanted his sippy, I found it on the floor and refilled it for him and gave it to him which he took and wandered happily away (by the way, when he wants something to drink he says "mo" which means more over and over again hehe).

Anyway, D got home and I told her what he had been saying and asked what "bobby" or "bubby" might mean. She just gave me a blank look and told me she had no idea.

Later that evening she pulled out a picture of her father-in-law and showed it to Gavin and pointed and said "this is Poppy". After she did that he pointed back and repeated what she said. And guess what came out? "Bobby".

As a side note, the six year old, Regan, asked to take some pictures with my digital (she loves to take photos) so I told her all right. She snapped a few in the kitchen and guess what showed up? Orbs!

Once I get the photos off my camera I'll upload them to the site so you can tell me what you think - personally, I wouldn't be surprised if D's father-in-law had stopped in to pay them all a visit. Both D, her husband, and Regan were beginning to have a tough time with the anniversary of his death coming up.

shadowghost 2/19/2006 9:04:00 PM I just wish I could say that I have something to add, but none of my little ones have ever told anything after my mother and brother passed. no one in my family as well.
Java Anyone? 2/19/2006 9:18:00 PM Thanks for the replies Psy Guy, Zema, and Brenda -I've always believed children are more open to things than we are, but I couldn't help but wonder if that's what happened in this case or if it was a mistake of being "lost in translation" with my little cousin which happens a lot since his speech / vocabulary is a bit behind for his age. Thanks again - I appreciate you guys taking the time to respond :) ~ CG

Java Anyone? 2/20/2006 9:24:00 AM Hi Shai - I sometimes wish I had the ability to see as freely as children did. Kind of heart warming when it involves a member of the family :) Thanks for the reply and take care.

halfbaked 2/20/2006 7:41:00 PM My step daughter said she saw a dark figure standing by her door way and was sort of trying to claw at her but wouldn't go into her room. We told her it was a shadow but I think it might have been something else. Nothing like that has happened before or since. Every time I think about it, it gives me the creeps.
Java Anyone? 2/20/2006 8:25:00 PM I can understand why that would give you the creeps! It sounds like something may have been protecting your daughter :) Thanks for sharing Half Baked - it's much appreciated.
